  • Hello,

I have an issue with my Z11 pro max and screen settings :

    model: Z11 Pro Max
Retail Box or Provider Box: Retail Box
    Firmware version: 11.3.3
    MYTVOnline 1 / MYTVOnline 2 / MyTVOnline 3 version: 12.1.2
Connection with provider: Xtream codes portal (XC Api)
    Box connected with: Ethernet
Did you factory reset your device? and when?: Yes
    Picture url (only https): https://mega.nz/file/9QQgBCqA#…qNcHmt5-lyCeICI
Video download url (only https): https://mega.nz/file/NQwECbCb#…wy1DPvUXH1YsNpI
What issue(s) are you having? When I put it on standby and turn it back on, screen settings return to auto. It doesn't keep my settings
My Z11 Pro is connected to my Onkyo TX-NR515 through HDMI cable. My Onkyo is connected to TV Samsung Crystal UHD 65TU7125 SMART TV (UE65TU7125KXXC) with HMDI ARC port.
HDMI CEC is off, HDR is off and i use HDCP 1.4.
What was you expecting to happen? The screen settings saved everytime
What happened instead? The screen settings not saved
How can we reproduce the issue you are having? Set screen settings as desired, put formuler on standby. power off all other equipments. restart equipements and formuler.
What have you tried if anything to rectify the issue? I tested with different HDMI port (on my Onkyo and my TV Samsung) and different HDMI cable. I still have the same issue.

PS : The issue is similar with this thread for Z10 Pro Max (posted October 12, 2021) : In the menu Screen resolution the display mode and color space settings are not saved - Formuler Z10 Pro Max, Z10 Pro, Z10, Z10SE - Formuler-Support Forum (English)

Can you help me please ? :folded_hands:

  • Tried this in earlier 2-3 reports to reproduce but was not able, resolution stay always saved.

    1. Chose different Color Space Settings, start with low one.

    2. Is System (Android) and MOL3 language English or other language? If not, please change to English and test again. Is just idea.

    3. Set HDR Output Mode to off and use 1.4 HDCP, test again.

    4. HDMI CEC: deactivate "Auto change Language". In past this setting produced on some boxes some issue.

  • Hi Sam,

The problem is still present with other color space settings. HDR is off and i use 1.4 HDCP. I dont use HDMI CEC.

switch langage to English don't resolve the issue.

Then i think you must try factory reset your z11.

Also no problems at my side. Just like sam.

P.s. after some updates/upgrades its best to do a factory reset.

Within 30 minuts you have your box settet up or less.

  • Ok, please do following.

Restart your Box once to clear the log file. Try to reproduce the issue and then send instantly the log file to Formuler. Post your Tracking No. in this thread. Will forward to Formuler for log file check.

  • 2 things should be checked:

    1. Why does the ONKYO boot logo appear when waking up the Formuler from Standby mode?

It seems like the Formuler is turning off the ONKYO when going to sleep (even though it looks like CEC is turned off).

Why is this a problem? Because if the ONKYO cannot turn back on fast enough, the Formuler cannot negotiate/detect the sink device's display capabilities and the Formuler will default to a "safe" (auto) resolution.

    2. Turn off ALL CEC settings. You may need to briefly turn on the 1st CEC setting in order to access and turn off the 2nd CEC setting. After that, turn off the 1st CEC setting again.

After forcing the "Turn off TV" (Onkyo) CEC setting to OFF, try again and provide your results.

If this fixes your issue, there is a UI bug in the Formuler's CEC menu.

In any case, the ONKYO shouldn't turn off. If it is turning off when the Formuler goes to sleep, the issue will never be resolved.

If you can't be bothered to check/test the above, check and/or try the following:

    1. Put the Formuler to sleep
    2. Check if the ONKYO also turns off
    3. if the ONKYO turns off, manually turn it back on and wait 10 seconds for it to boot-up completely.
    4. Wake up the Formuler and see if the resolution settings reverted to Auto
  • Sam,

The tracking number is the same (00000018C4047) and logs are sending.

Thank you 175N for your answer. In HDMI CEC "Turn Off TV" is grayed because HDMI Control is turned off.

I confirme when i put formuler in stand bye MODE, ONKYO des not switch off automaticaly.

In the video you can show Onkyo botting up because I switch it off manualy. I dont' keep my TV and Onkyo On when I standbye formuler.

Even if the Onkyo won't turn on fast enough, why the formuler default to auto resolution while screen résolution is manual set ?

I test to wait more time after switch On Onkyo before switch on formuler and the problem is the same 😭

  • Check if your ONKYO has "Hybrid Standby Mode" or "HDMI Standby Through" and enable it to see if it helps.

Also turn off any "Eco" mode nonsense on the ONKYO and see if there is a difference.

Even if the Onkyo won't turn on fast enough, why the formuler default to auto resolution while screen résolution is manual set ?

Most users are not Pros like yourself. Defaulting to Auto resolution when the sink device's capabilities cannot be determined reliably can help most basic users from encountering a "black screen" or "no signal" situation if they manually set the incorrect display mode by accident.

  • I have since few days Z11 pro max and experience exactly the same problem. Have tried everything wich was suggested on the forum, also from other threads, some time ago, but no luck to keep is at 4k 50hz.

The only way I found is to use shut down and not sleep option. Then the resolution stay as desired, but is takes time and autostart app not working.

In my case the resolution changes after about half an hour in sleep mode. Anyway every morning starts again on auto 4k 60hz. I hope there will be some solution, because for the rest is very nice device, but I tried different boxes and never had this problem before.

Out of curiosity, why do you need 4K 50hz when device has AFR? Isn’t your TV natively 60hz?

  • When the TV stream is 1080p 50hz, then my TV looks much better at 4k50hz . I guess in countries where 30/60 Hz is standaard, there will be not a problem. In in my case ( and I am sure also apply for other EU customers) when the box switch to 4k60hz, picture is stuttering. Anyway I hope is possible to fix it. I did try everything, all HDMI ports, different cabels, hard reset, soft reset, HDR off, HDMI CEC off , etc.... Will have to wait and see, I am sure is not a big deal to fix, as any other device I have tried don't show such behavior.

P.S. I agree that using My Tv online with AFR, probably is not a problem. But watching with provider's app, without AFR, then I prefer to keep the resolution I chose

You van change it at screen resolution my friend.

Turn it from "auto" to 4k 50hz.

I would never use a providers app 😂

    Yes,

If the formula engineers could solve this problem that would be great 😉

  • I cannot reproduce the problem.

With standby and or power off the screen resolution 4k 1080p still saved.

Wait for a fix/update. Maby more people has your problem as well.

Use power off modus so long.

Yes, I will use power off. But the problem is there. Try to set resolution, different than auto and not using My Tv online. Go to sleep mode and after about half an hour or more, resolution is changed to Auto. This is my scenario and once again is general issue, probably people in countries where 60p is a norm don't have any problem, and people who are using the device with my TV online only, due the AFR build into the program, are okay. There is no AFR in general settings, I believe on Android 12 was implemented... Anyway I use different devices and the Z11 pro max is the first one, which is not keeping my screen resolution preferences. I like the device, but probably would be forced to switch back to something else. Maybe different model don't have this behaviour....

    I try tomorrow again..

  • I just checked: My Tv online manage to change the frame rate, so indeed if you basically use only with this program, there's no problem. Once you go back to main menu and use something else without AFR, I have to do it manually.

Once again is annoying, if you use the box with some other apps, most of the users probably don't have any issues, assuming they use mainly My Tv online.

  • Well my problem is that the box doesn't keep my personal preference. Otherwise the whole menu of changing screen resolution is just not needed.

Does anyone have z Mini and can try if the resolution don't changes to Auto after about half an hour sleep?

Do you have maybe second tv (but not same brand where the resolution change) to test if there resolution change too? Would be nice if you could test it, then we know more.

  • No sorry , I don't have. What I was reading is mostly problem with Samsung Tv. Mine is The Frame QE50LS03BAUXXN. I've tried few boxes and none have this behaviour. When you choose some preference, then they stay. It's pity, because I like the F11 pro max, but I will forced to use something else. Anyway hopefully will be fixed soon.
