  • Did you upgrade directly from Android 9 to Android 10?

Or did you upgrade from Beta Android 10 to the official?

    From Android 9.

  • The "dead" MOL2 (version: 10.0.16) has returned! The symptoms are a completely unresponsive MOL2 to the remote except for the HOME key. I tried clearing cache, clearing data, stopping MOL2 and no luck -- every time you return to MOL2 it is where ever it was when it became unresponsive (could be a working channel) or just a blank screen.

However, one thin g I had changed just before it stopped working was to set TIMESHIFT = ON. I don't know if that is part of the problem.

Now, I did rollback to 10.0.15 and tried again but that resulted in the same problem; unresponsive MOL2.

I'm back on 10.0.16 and managed to get the TIMESHIFT turned off.

I'll report back after some more watching. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

  • My GTV is running the latest official update. I was on beta and went straight to this new update. Android system web update is showing up on Playstore but I'm not able to update it. All other apps update fine. Should I do a factory reset....

  • Sometimes simply resetting the box to factory and then installing an update again resolves a lot of issues.

Personally, when an open release of an update is available, I reset the box to factory and then install the update.

By doing that I means it’s a complete fresh install hopefully free of any issues that may carry over from the previous version

I would do the opposite. First install the update then factory reset.

  • Make an factory reset…

Pull the power cable ,Put an toothpick in the ir extender port then push the toothpick in the port smoothly (you can feel an klick)

Hold it in this position and plug in the power cable while holding the toothpick…

Wait a few seconds and then make an factory reset by following the screen instructions!!

Thanks I will try that, was already thinking about doing that but couldn't find the method applicable for gtv

installing and then resetting and reinstalling seems unnecessary

You’ll be going the long way round for the same result….

However it’s whatever works for you I guess.

Mine seems decent and stable so can’t complain at this point

Thank you for the additional data.

Do you use a NAS with your GTV?

Did you set the timeshift file location to the NAS?

Did you set the timeshift file location to the NAS?

Yes, I am using my NAS as storage for the GTV (no USB stick attached). I am beginning to think that the NAS option may be the problem and I will disconnect it today and reboot.

And, yes, I set Timeshift to the NAS as well.

What tests do you suggest I can perform? Been doing beta tests for more than 40 years :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: but not often for myself.

    Cheers!

    Hi man,

I've done it and found the button... Sadly it doesn't take me to the rescue screen, is there another method?

    Cheers

  • Updated and connected the GTV to my QNAP NAS for recording. All seems well.

𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Hi, is it really possible to save recordings on a Nas? Is it too much to ask to tell me how to do that? Please keep it simple, I'm 70

Yes it is possible but I'd wait until the feature is reviewed by the dev team; it has some issues.

However, you can do it! I'm 81 and I made it work! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

    Cheers!

  • I know you guys work your arse off and all help and updates are much appreciated but the gtv is poor in comparison to the z8pro,I understand its a new box and will face issues nearly 7 month I've had and there's not much improvement sorry to say

    Take todays football 4k stream

Hardwired trying to watch Czech vs Denmark 4k stream stop start

My z8pro in the bedroom 20 feet away on WiFi playing the same stream perfect

    Gtv display mode

    4k 50hz

    Colour depth setting on

    Colour space settings YCbC420

Afr off also tried with it on

    Z8pro display mode

    4k 50hz

Since this update its so unresponsive its unreal

The gtv is top end box should be out performing any formuer box

It isn't I've people on z alphas same stream running perfect even the crappy b**z xpl300 is playing the 4k stream perfect

    Any help much appreciated

  • That's spot on Eric.

I was watching the tennis with similar settings to you...the tennis ball was more like a yellow meteorites tail...went back to watching tennis and football on my 10 year old Humax HDR-FOX T2 displaying 1280*720p 50HZ...its not my provider or my fiber broadband l am getting download speeds of over 45Mbps with ethernet cable.

I have been playing with the settings and overall picture did improve with recent update but moving objects blurring is not good to watch when it doesn't happen on terrestrial TV.

I had already warned this before the update that the z8 has better image quality than gtv nobody heard me. I spent money on gtv where in another cheaper box box I have better image quality than gtv. here they should be more concerned about giving us more and better image quality taking into account the price it costs I want there I know that just talk to change the channel ... I want and would like to be watching a 4k movie or even watching streaming full hd and say HUAU fantastic

  • for me I can cope with pic image for now

Whats really annoying the gtv struggles playing a 4k football match Hardwired unwatchable but my z8pro on WiFi 20 ft away plays it with ease,z alpha not a problem what is going on ?

The gtv is flagship box I'm so disappointed at the moment

I've got a cheaper box no names it retails now for 49.99 and played the same 4k football with ease not one buffer

Things arnet right I love formuer, z8pro is a beast but the gtv it's very very disappointing its terrible when a 3rd rate box i wouldn't give away out performs it

Formuler have always come good so I wait in hope things will improve either that or I end up taking a hammer to it 😄

  • I still have non fluid image on 1080p streams. 720p seem to run ok now, but still cheap z neo+ better image an fluid. GTV still a waste of money.

Also on my GTV box RJ45 does not run stable may be a hardware issue. Also see this that on top richt that the symbol disconnects. Had this before the update already. Wifi stable.

  • I found the NAS function and tried using it. At first it works great. Within Kodi I can find the NAS and in plays fluently.

After switching to other apps and then returning to Kodi it freezes, Also MOL2 freezes. With the home button I can return to the setting. Unmounting and then mounting again free's up the system and it works again, until it stops again.

I like the possibility. Hopefully a quick fix will make it more stable.

  • Occasionally after a wake-up (from standby) I get a black screen. EPG can be displayed but EPG updates are extremely slow (if any). Change of channel does not do anything, still a black screen.

Restart of MOL2 makes the current channel to be displayed, but EPG updates are still sluggish as is channel change (several seconds before any reaction when changing channel).

A reboot of the device solves the problem.
