  • hello, the problem of changing channels with the numbers of the remote control from the personal groups, is confirmed and one speaks about it on the forums. the numbers do not match the strings. older people use this method to change channels. can you fix it, please.

  • After I made the update. I can't see any trailers anymore in vods.

I have another z8 where I did not update. And the trailers is working and can be seen here.

    I use xc portal

Same provider on my other box with old version and no problems

I can't be the only one that have this problem?

  • Hello and welcome to the forum.

Please connect your Z8 directly to your TV and try again.

If it works, please find the user manual or user support forum for your AVR and find out how to force HDCP1.4 mode on your AVR.

Try as I might, I cannot reproduce this problem on my box (Z8). Personal group, general Favourite group or other bouquet, everything works as intended. Pressing 4 displays 4 and then lets me switch to 4. Same is true for 1 through 7 (yes, my personal group consists of 70+ channels). To go to 40 I would need to actually press 4, 0; perfectly as intended.

And now for something completely different:

    • ADD: New "Skip Ahead" feature for Live TV.
      • Jump forward to get closer to real-time playback

Loving this! One question though… When you invoke this feature, is there a way to get back out of it without changing channels? For example: suppose I’m watching a football match and invoke Skip Ahead to blaze the trail with live action, but I find that the connection is less stable in this way. Can I back out of the Skip Ahead function without having to change to another channel and back again, as I tend to do it now? It would certainly be nice if there’d been a function where you could toggle between Skip Ahead and normal viewing, in case of a poor connection for instance.

  • One question though… When you invoke this feature, is there a way to get back out of it without changing channels?

No. Changing channels is the only way right now. You invoke "Skip Ahead" at your own risk.

That said, some users have found greater stability when using "Skip Ahead" if they set the "Buffer time" parameter to "off" in the Settings > Player Options menu.

Thank you for your answer 175n

Yes if I directly connect the z8 to the television it works

I cannot force my AVR to 1.4.

I know there are also converters for 2.2 => 1.4 but I don't really like that.

It worked well before v1.4.71, can we fix it?

    Thanks

  • can we fix it?

A workaround will be implemented on the Z8 firmware in the future.

    The timeframe is unknown however.

In the meantime please seek assistance from your AVR manufacturer to see if there are any other options.

Out of curiosity, what happens if you connect a BluRay disc player or PS4 or other 4K-capable HDCP2.2 source device to your AVR? Do you get the same issue?

Bluray (but not 4k) and PS4 are working fine this is the first time I have this message with a device.

After checking my AVR is HDCP 2.2 compatible, so I think it comes from television (old HDCP)

It's strange that it works when I connect the Z8 directly to it

After checking my AVR is HDCP 2.2 compatible, so I think it comes from television (old HDCP)

It's strange that it works when I connect the Z8 directly to it

That would be because of the following reason:

Your receiver is HDCP 2.2 compatible; your TV isn’t. So, connecting the Formuler to your receiver, the Formuler will negotiate a HDCP2.2 handshake. That rules it out from being displayed on your TV, as HDCP 2.2 and 1.4 cannot be interlinked. In order for HDCP2.2 to work as intended, every device in the chain needs to comply to 2.2. This would be true for your AVR and your Formuler, but not for your TV. Hence, you won’t get a picture. However, you would see an image coming directly from your AVR, because it will negotiate an HDCP1.4 handshake when talking straight to your TV.
It would be best if devices would use the lowest common denominator (i.e. all devices would fall back to 1.4 if one of the devices in the chain does not comply with 2.2, but unfortunately, that is not the case when connected devices can use both standards.

    For Example

    Formuler > AVR = 2.2

    then Formuler > AVR > TV = 2.2

This will happen in spite of your TV not being compatible with 2.2, because the negotiation has picked the highest shared compatible version, but it did not check whether or not the TV actually was up to par on it. Ideally, what should have happened was:

    Formuler > AVR = 2.2

Formuler > AVR > TV: Negotiating 2.2 FAILED. Requesting fallback to 1.4 << Receiver: Acknowledged. Receiver < Formuler: Requesting fallback because of incompatible device up the chain… SUCCESS — service resumed at 1.4.

However, that is not how things work by default when it comes to HDCP. The devices need to directly sense each other for a fallback to occur. Therefore, if you connect one device to another and then to the next, all devices will have to speak the same HDCP ‘dialect’, with none being able to supersede it. So: all devices on 1.4: working perfectly. All devices on 2.2: working perfectly. Version inconsistent between devices: trouble ahead…! The only way Formuler would be able to work around this is by actually enabling the user to either select the used HDCP version or even enabling the user to completely disable HDCP (most likely at the cost of losing some functionality, such as being able to use Widevine L1 DRM and applications requiring it).

  • Thank you very much slashtiger for this very detailed explanation, it's very interesting

  • Can i do a backup of my seetings so i dont need to setup favorits and everything agin if i do a reset ?

Of course you can. Just be aware that there will be a likelihood of also restoring the problem that caused your issue, There is no certainty here, because it depends on what has caused the issue in the first place. So whilst restoring your settings is most certainly possible, there is a potential for the problem to also return.

What exactly, is the trailer button missing or the trailers doesn`t start?

Someone had problems with trailers crashing in last beta and the solution was re-install YouTube app.

For me, trailers work perfectly. Oddly enough, it did take a little bit of time (couple of seconds) for the Trailer button to appear. But whenever it did, the trailers I tried all worked perfectly.

  • Shows the trailer icon normally with small delay from 0.5 sec. Connection to provider, XC Api or Stalker?

  • Shows the trailer icon normally with small delay from 0.5 sec. Connection to provider, XC Api or Stalker?

In case you’re talking to me, I’m using XCodes. But really, I don’t mind the delay, I can live with it. The important thing is that it works, right? It does for me, so I’m happy.

  • I also get the channel number sort issue using XC when pressing a number button. I have the main favorite group with 120 channels and if I press 2 the channels are sorted as: "25, 26, 27, 28, 2, 23, 21"

The epg guide shows the channels in proper order. The number sort issue does not happen for all numbers. Some sort in proper order.

Connection portal set to group channel number on.

    Guide sorts properly:

  • If I press a channel number (e.g. 4), the list appears, starting with 4, followed by 40 through to 49 (in order), followed by 400 through to 499 (in order). Not a single mishap in sorting. All channels are nice and sorted. I just see channel numbers starting with 4, as the list you see is supposed to be a filtered list. In other words each subsequent keypress would narrow the list down further. Tried this in ALL, in Favourite (after having added enough channels to this group to even be able to reproduce it) and in all of my custom groups.

246fname This behaviour does seem odd. My settings are exactly the same as yours, yet, as you can see, with me everything functions as it should. One question: do you use the Classic channel list style, or the Normal channel list style (see Settings)? I use Classic. Not that this should have any influence at all, but you never know…

@slashtiger I am using Classic channel style also.

I tried changing channel style and clearing EPG but the results are the same.

I have cleared the cache of MOL2 also and same sorting results.

There has been some different experiences in the past depending on provider data in the EPG/Catchup so it may be related to provider and not MOL2.

    Cheers.

  • 246fname I don’t necessarily think that it has to do with the EPG, because the issue (mainly) occurs outside of the EPG. However, there may still be a provider-side issue at play here. I didn’t see anything out of place with the channel naming in your photos, but there may well be a hidden character that’s causing this issue to occur.

slashtiger I looked closer at the sorted image and see that the catchup channels are sorted after the non-catchup channels. I created a group without catchup channels and it sorts properly when pressing numbers to go to a channel.

The catchup channels must have some additional data that causes them to be lower on the list. Not sure if the sort is an ASCII sort or some other method.

  • Hey.

The problem i have talked about with the trailers button don't show in VODs after the last update I now know why.

If I set language to English (United States)

In settings on the box. The trailer button is there.

If I change language to Danish (dansk)

The trailer button is no longer there.

Must be a bug. On my other z8 I did not update. And the language is set to Danish and the trailer button is there. On my other z8 and z alpha with the new update. This bug is there if I change away from English to Danish.

    SAM can you test.

  • Language where exactly, Android? MOL2 is not translated into Danish.

  • Working on my side with and without language change. I used XC Api for test.

Go to Settings->Apps-> MOL2 and make cache and data delete.

    I use xc portal also.

I just deleted cache and data and change to Danish.

When I go to vod it's like this.

If I change back to English agin I get this

It's the same on two boxes. Z8 and a z alpha.

  • soppdk have you tried different films? That is, have you seen this happen with more than one title in the VOD collection? I’m asking this because the Trailer button can direct you to different trailers depending on your display language and properties that the IPTV provider has set. Therefore, if your provider enabled this in their portal, there may not be a Danish trailer for the film in question. My suggestion is to try and see what happens if you search for a Danish title (it doesn’t even have to be one you really intend to watch; just pick some random title and see if the Trailer button is there when your System Language is set to Danish.

Hey. As I said in my first post. This is and have always been working. With Danish and still do whit the old firmware/mol2 om my z8 it only started after I updated to the new firmware/mol2.

And yes I have tryed more then 100 movies from English to Danish, Swedish and so on. There are no trailers if I set it to Danish on the last firmware/mol2 update.

I only used the same movie for pictures, so Sam cloud see the button was missing.

I only get the trailer button if language is set to any of the English or France.

I also tested with changing to Espanol, Deutschland, Italiano, norsk, Nederlands

    Same problem No trailer button.

    I tested with many movies.

The box I'm.testing with now is a z alpha. Just installed everything yesterday. I also tried resetting it.

    Also tried with more portals.

Edited once, last by soppdk (August 10, 2020 at 9:39 AM).

  • Soppdk is right.

The Traler function disappears if I select certain Menu Languages in Mol2

If I select: - Settings - Swedish as Menu Language, the Trailer-function is gone.

I have tried ALL languages and only when I select English, French and Lituviu as Menu Language can I get the Trailer function.

  • Just one idea for test. Reinstall current youtube app from box and install latest youtube app from playstore and chek again. Trailers comes from youtube.

  • I just did the test.

1 : I installed YouTube from Google play store

    And it's the same.

2: I also tryed updating the YouTube app from apptroid to a newer version also same.

    No trailers.

Ok i will forward this issue to the devs like in report from you and Yga (they are in summer holidays now). Hope they can reproduce somehow your issue.

Google Play, no more in the Formuler Market...

Google Play app is already pre-installed and can be found in Home Menu.
