i can barely watch with buffer set to 10seconds. every few minutes for 30 seconds or more it just buffers.

well, i am running the same provider on three boxes, Mag, dreamlink t2 and z7+.
only z7+ is buffering.
can you please let me know if the usb>ehternet adapter resolves your issues?
I received the USB3 adaptor today. Purchased for £7.99 from Amazon (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01DDRVM2Q).
I only watched the England match this evening, so it's too early to form an opinion if it has improved things.
Although I didn't get any buffering on TSN throughout the match but on other channels I had the odd buffering/loading.
Note: I also updated the software to the latest formuler beta earlier so maybe those 'bug fixes and general improvements' may help!
For me, the main test will be at the weekend to see how the Sky F1 channels hold up.

I also have three providers. I've been experiencing significant buffering this week using the app. Today it got so bad I bypassed the VPN and reconnected to my TV online and the buffering actually stopped. This was during the England match on an fhd 60fps channel. My VPN refuces uses speeds to what I thought was still acceptable 15 to 25 megabytes a second but with other things going on in the house and fhd channel s it is maybe not enough. My regular connection is 300 / 20 and I did a Speedtest which showed that I was getting 93 mbs to the box when I bypassed the VPN. I wonder if speed is the biggest variable, at least in my household.

i`m after a usb adapter, is this a good one to buy ?

not sure if an adapter will work, mytvonline worked good before the latest update. Lets just hope the coders can come up with a solution to all this buffering

What should coders change, pleas tell me?
If one user have smooth streaming and no buffering at all with MOL and other not, what should coders change? I would understand if all have the same problem but this is not the situation!Coder can not change the provider if the provider have changed something, have problems or what ever. It can not be that all Providers function perfect and only this box is the Problem! Also if the ISP latency is high (ms) on user side and he have some ISP problems (even when he not see it at beginning), download rate says nothing, also not the ping, what should coder do?
In this thread are so much wrong details, no proof, just confusion and wild speculation.
What kind of proof has been presented in the thread that conclusively shows MOL is the cause of the buffering? Users using VPN and expect perfect streaming, then blame MOL for the buffering. VPN cuts sometimes almost 50% of the data rate but no one mentioned this!
Many users changed his provider and have now no buffering, what says this to us?
The last Updates are good improvements and MOL was never better stable then now.

Like droidbug I can run same providers on different platforms on same network, with little or no buffering. That is why I suspect problems with MOL app.
-
Sorry to offend you and the coders since I am not one I can’t advise. What I know is I had no issue before the mytvonline app. I use 5 different service and some worse than others but they all buffer. I don’t have the answer or pretend to know but this is a forum where we can speak. I wasn’t trying to get under your skin and if so forgive my ignorance.

if the usb adapter resolves the issue? would that mean its a driver issue for the wired connection on the box?
-
I think the problem is not so much the MOL app but the network adapter issues. Setting a static ip seems to solve the buffering issues for my z7+ boxes. Every time you reboot the box, you must go into the settings and do a manual set of the ip again or the random network drops occur causing buffering and disconnects. Here's a test, reboot the box and do 10 speed tests with the speed test app from the formuler market while recording the results. Set a static ip manually from the settings and preform the tests again. My results show a swing from 94 down to 2 before setting the ip manually. After setting the ip manually, all tests show 90+.

Hi
Can this be changed if using a VPN?
If so does it have to be reset when you change VPN server?
Excuse my ignorance but any assistance will be much appreciated especially if this might be a possible solution

Thanks for the extra effort to try narrowing down the issue.
When you have time, can you retry the tests while connected directly to your modem? (bypass router & set Formuler device to DHCP (not static))

Thanks for doing the testing and research on this. I have also been having some issues with buffering. Can you let me know what service and provider you are using?

Unfortunately, all I have access to here is the Rogers Hitron CGN3 cable modem/router gateway unit and I'm hardwired to that. I also have another generic android box connected to the same gateway that doesn't experience the same issue. Another interesting note is that since first setting the static ip, roughly a week after getting my boxes, regardless of what I do, it always sets the same ip unless I manually change it. Even after resetting the box and running though the initial setup and choosing Automatic(DHCP), it will set that ip which is outside my gateway's DHCP pool.

stewlk - I've only bought the one adaptor and it does it job, so can't give any comparison.
However after several days use, I can confirm using the USB adaptor provides no benefit over the built in LAN port for me (still lot's of buffering / loading).
If anyone who is issue free and receives a steady/solid stream, would you be kind enough to PM their provider to me?
I would like to try a recommended alternative to who I am using today.
Thanks in advance.

If you dont want to put the IP in everytime you reboot you could always setup DHCP reservation.. This is they way I have it setup, set the Formuler to DHCP but, assign the MAC in the router to an IP address. Such less hassel than adding the IP everytime.

I'm with the ones that said they hadn't the issue few week ago. Haven't had the box sfor a long time, but i since a random update of the MOL app i have the buffering issue that i didn't notice before the update (don't really remember which one it was ^^)
Thanks in advance

I tried Islander's method and my results are different: no matter what i choose DHCP or Static IP on Android's setting i get the same results, 33 Mbps download, and 93 Mbps upload, i have a the fiber 1000/250 supposedly, so results looks pretty bad in the formuler...
Tested directly connected to my modem, i don't use any added router or vpn. The less devices i have, the better

Don't know what you meant by "bypass router" but i hope the tests i run will help the team, let me know if you need me for anything else. Still having the buffering issue.

The speedtest app is not a comprehensive or definitive test for network performance.
Results can vary wildly depending on a lot of external factors.
Get more accurate results by using a local network performance testing app.
Install this app on your Formuler:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/det…eedtester&hl=en
Install the local test server on your PC:
https://bitbucket.org/pzolee/tcpserver/downloads/
Post your results as a screenshot like below:
My results: Formuler Z7+
Down: 95Mbit/s
Up: 99Mbit/s

Please explain how to do it, i'm not familiar with this program...
I installed it, but i don't know what to do with the python program you want me to install on my PC.
Thanks

From here: https://bitbucket.org/pzolee/tcpserver/downloads/
download wifi_speed_test_server.exe to your PC and run it
On your Formuler device, goto the play store and download the app found here: WiFi Speed Test
https://play.google.com/store/…ocalwifispeedtester&hl=enUsing the mouse cursor mode and/or the CH UP/DN buttons, enter the remote server address which is the PC's IP address that is running the speed test server.
Below the speed meter, select "Both" to run the upload and download test. then press Start at the top.
When the tests are done, goto the Test Results tab and take a screenshot.

Screenshot option needs the Bluetooth and i don't have it, so i took a photo instead (results are better, you were right)

I noticed something, when trying to install the apk from google browser, i had to open the market on the formuler and... it was very slow to open...
So maybe if there is a problem for the buffering maybe it's the same that caused the loading issue for the market to open... so maybe not MOL related...
Just speculating

yes all of the Z7+ i have sold have this buffer problem and i use static now and its much better here
-
if we use DHCP we have this problem but it works better whit static here
-
Static on ethernet setting on the z7, or static at the router level?
-
on the Z7+
-
I have set static in Android settings from main menu. Do any changes need to be made on ethernet settings tab? Still states automatic (DHCP) under "set up wired network"
-
any new news on buffering issues?
-
I'm having the same issue.
Z7+ using the latest firmware/software. Have performed factory reset, removed microSD and have set ethernet to static IP.
I get buffering/loading for a couple seconds every minute or so.
It happens with multiple providers however when I switch to HTPC with Kodi I do not get buffering. Same network, same ISP, same channel... only difference is the device used to watch.
-
Hi Inspecta,
If buffering only occurs every minute or so it's a bit différent than other issue where it buffers egery 5/10 seconds.
Have you tried to expand buffer size in options ?
Do you use ethernet cable instead of WiFi ?
-
After setting mine to static IP my buffering seems to have stoped.

Hi Dicentim
The last few days I have had some buffering on a couple other devices while testing so could possibly be a channel issue. A strange coincidence it didn't do it when I changed devices originally. Yes, I've set the buffer size to 10 seconds. I always use ethernet cable on a Gigabit network (I know Z7+ limited to 100).
-

Same! Once in a while say every 30-1h I got the channel refresh but that takes like a second. No more constant buffering
-
What about DNS ? Would it help to change them in Android ? Still having various buffering problems with some providers others seems to work but i'm really having a hard time rying to chose a provider with this issue so every time i'm ending up saying no to the provider's offer...
-
i purchased a formuler W2 wifi adapter and tested it. exact same issues show up on the wifi connection as were on the wired connection.

Guys, I was also experiencing these buffering issues, wasn’t since a few updates back this problem started with me.
Tried everything as listed here in these forums, I just updated to new Beta firmware, and I’ve been buffer FREE!
Want to thank you guys over at Formuler 👍
Finally I can watch a show without wanting to toss my remote into the screen watching those loading death wheels show up!
Afraid of updating again and problem shows up.

Couple of days ago i made a reset and now everything's fine.
Thanks

can you please tell me step by step so i can try the same? when i try in formuler box, it goes right back to automatic/dhcp. wonder how people are doing it?
did you do it in your router or in formuler settings?
i am taking my box to try it on various different places on different isps. lets see how it works. i will post back.

i cant watch any VOD content without buffering.
i compared it to mag box which worked fine with the same VOD content, after comparing all the settings i found out it was set to 30 seconds as buffer. whereas max for formuler box is ten seconds.

Hi,
After much tinkering and investigating i think the MYTVOnline app is potentially the cause of my buffering issues.
First i increased buffer to 10 seconds. Ensured HLS Start Mode was set to Normal (been searching these forums). I run my vpn client on my router with no issues. set static ip address on box and router.
My connection speed is more than ample whether connected to vpn or not, buffering happens whether i'm connected to vpn or not. Been in contact with provider, I can change the streaming server i am connected to via my iptv provider account which i have done and tried, closest to me. My next step was install kodi on z7+ then install simple pvr client addon. When streaming via Kodi i get no buffering but switch back to MYTVOnline app and for some reason it causes excessive buffering intermittently and regulary, tried factory and software reset (twice).
Just wondering is there possible an issue with the app ? anyone else having same issues ? any help/advice/recommendations very welcome.
Thank you.
There is an issue with this App. Im having the same fault with buffering. iv been running a Mag 256 with the same provider on both boxes. The mag has no issues.
