Anybody knows how to reset the remote to default? All my buttons when pressed the stb light comes in. All buttons except the pause button. When I press the pause button,the stb light does not come on.

When I press the pause button,the stb light does not come on.
Check and see if your buttons aren't stuck. Otherwise get a new one.

Is there a method to toggle the onscreen keyboard on and off like the cursor?

If you mean the vertical led: With each button press, the led flash.
If you mean backlight: No, is not available.

This may not be related but any assistance would be appreciated.
I was happy using the directional keys to navigate the menu’s then a mouse cursor appeared on screen. I would like to switch off this mouse cursor and revert to the directional keys as I find them far less frustrating and easier . Any ideas on how to switch the mouse cursor off ?
